Where to watch Houston-Kansas basketball today: TV channel, streaming

Two of the best teams from arguably the best conference in men’s college basketball will square off inside one of the sport’s most hallowed venues.

With both teams coming off difficult losses over the weekend, No. 2 Houston will take on No. 12 Kansas on Monday, February 23 at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas.

After a 23-2 start, coach Kelvin Sampson’s Cougars have lost two in a row, falling last week at No. 6 Iowa State and going cold late in a home setback against No. 4 Arizona. It’s the first time in 25 months they’ve suffered losses in back-to-back games. Houston hasn’t lost three games in a row since all the way back in Jan. 2017.

It will aim to avoid making the wrong kind of history when it takes on a Kansas team reeling from a gutting loss of its own. The Jayhawks were blown out at home by 16 by an unranked Cincinnati team last Saturday, despite guard Darryn Peterson playing 32 minutes and scoring 17 points. It was the second loss in the past three games for Kansas, which had won each of its previous eight games.

The matchup will feature two of the best freshmen in the country in Peterson and Houston guard Kingston Flemings, both of whom are projected top-10 NBA Draft picks.

Houston vs Kansas predictions, picks, odds

Odds from BetMGM

Spread: Houston (-1.5)
Over/under: 138.5 points
Moneyline: Houston (-125), Kansas (+105)

Prediction: Houston 70, Kansas 66

It’s never wise to bet against the magic of Allen Fieldhouse and how it has a habit of churning out Jayhawks wins in tight games, but it might be equally unwise to believe a Houston program that has been a model of consistency will lose three in a row for the first time in nearly a decade.
