Mind-boggling stat shows rarity of Texas A&M comeback vs South Carolina

Texas A&M trailed South Carolina 30-3 at halftime in Week 12 before scoring 28 unanswered to comeback and defeat the Gamecocks at home. The win secured the Aggies’ first 10-win season since 2012, when Johnny Manziel won the Heisman Trophy.

Quarterback Marcel Reed threw for 439 yards with three touchdowns, rebounding after throwing two interceptions in the first half. South Carolina was held scoreless in the second half.

Texas A&M scored on its first four possessions in the second half, erasing the 27-point lead early in the fourth quarter. The Aggies made things interesting late, though, after Reed fumbled inside South Carolina’s red zone with 3:10 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Texas A&M then held South Carolina from scoring on the Gamecocks’ final drive.

Texas A&M made history in Week 12, not only with the historic comeback but also its 10-0 start, an unprecedented mark since the Aggies joined the SEC in 2012.

Now Texas A&M shifts its focus to its final two games of the season, against Samford and archrival Texas on the road in Austin, Texas.
