Rory McIlroy visibly emotional, cries after first-ever Masters win

Rory McIlroy fended off a late collapse, winning his first-ever Masters Tournament after beating Justin Rose in a playoff.

He was, expectedly, emotional after sinking the tournament-winning putt. It was a moment he has likely dreamed about since turning pro in 2007 at 18 years old.

McIlroy missed a tournament-sealing putt on No. 18, setting up the playoff and losing momentum out of his favor. He was able to birdie a re-do of hole 18, beating Rose, who scored a par 4.

The 35-year-old golfer from Northern Ireland shed tears as he secured his first green jacket and subsequent career Grand Slam, joining a group of now six golfers who have won every major at least once in their career.

McIlroy, a golf fan-favorite who many were rooting for as he led heading into Masters Sunday, finally got it done. He fell to the ground before making his rounds to his wife and then his daughter, who met him with a hug.
