Ravens WR Diontae Johnson suspended for conduct detrimental to team

The Ravens have suspended Johnson for one game for conduct detrimental to the team, the team announced Wednesday.

“We have made the difficult decision to suspend Diontae Johnson for our upcoming game against the New York Giants for conduct detrimental to the team,” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said in a statement. “Diontae’s suspension stems from refusing to enter our game against the Philadelphia Eagles. We will have no further comments on this matter going forward.”

The Ravens have a Week 14 bye, so Johnson will be suspended for the club’s Week 15 tilt at New York.

Johnson has played a total of 39 snaps with the Ravens since Baltimore acquired him in an Oct. 29 trade with the Carolina Panthers. The wideout didn’t log a snap Week 13 versus Eagles, the game in which he refused to enter, according to the Ravens.

The sixth-year wide receiver has just one catch for six yards since joining the Ravens.

Johnson spent his first five years with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After he wore out his welcome in Pittsburgh, the Steelers traded him to the Panthers in March 2024.

The 28-year-old wide receiver has 422 receptions, 4,726 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns in 88 career games.

Johnson’s first game off suspension will be ironically against his former team, the Steelers, in Week 16.
